Infrastructure Acceleration Fund
The $1 billion Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF) invests in infrastructure that supports new housing developments in areas that face the biggest housing supply and affordability issues throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. It is a key part of the Government’s $3.8 billion Housing Acceleration Fund.
About the fund
IAF aims to address some of the underlying barriers to housing supply by:
- opening up more land for housing development, particularly in areas close to jobs and other amenities
- helping to fund the critical infrastructure needed for that development
- allowing for a wider mix of housing, e.g. townhouses, units, apartments and standalone houses, that is affordable for low- to moderate-income households to own or rent
- freeing up development-ready land and accelerating housing development to moderate growth in house and land prices.
Following a two-stage application process, 35 proposals have now been invited to enter the final stage of the IAF process. This stage will see further due diligence undertaken and both funding and housing outcome agreements negotiated before funding can be confirmed.
