2020/21 Annual Report released

Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga – Ministry of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) 2020/21 Annual Report was released today. The Annual Report provides an overview of what we've been up to over the last financial year, highlighting our achievements and detailing our performance and financial information.

The 2020/21 Report is our third and highlights the work that HUD has been doing to deliver on the Government’s priorities and to support enduring change for the housing and urban development system.

Some key highlights from this year include:

We invested in Māori-driven housing and urban development solutions: MAIHI KA Ora – National Māori housing strategy, MAIHI and place-based partnerships in Te Tairāwhiti and Te Tai Tokerau, jointly hosted two MAIHI Whare Wānanga with Te Matapihi and established Whai Kāinga, Whai Oranga, a $380 million investment in Māori housing to accelerate Māori-led housing solutions.
Developing and launching the Government Policy Statement on Housing and Urban Development (GPS-HUD).
We established the Housing Acceleration Fund a $3.8 billion fund to unlock housing development in locations facing the biggest housing supply and affordability challenges.
We supported the joint local government, central government, iwi and community taskforce to improve emergency housing in Rotorua.
We partnered with Wellington City Mission to set up Te Pā Pori, the largest transitional housing facility outside Auckland.
Launching the Te Tautiaki programme internally to build our cultural capability including: Taukaea – our Māori language plan, Whare Kōrero marae-based wānanga and Te Kākano and Tipu learning programmes. Also launching Tuia Te Here Tangata, our team-based approach to performance and development.
